Ben used to be our Operations Manager back when we were running a call center. When his wife Mel began dealing with an autoimmune condition, he stepped away from corporate life to take care of her. He learned organic farming so he could grow her food himself, hands in the soil, on a small patch of land. That choice changed everything.

Today, Ben supplies us with black rice, trains RuRi farmers on organic practices, and teaches vermiculture at Camp Mingan during our service learning camps for international students. Tonight, we’re celebrating him and this root crop we’re temporarily naming after him by making it a little more accessible.
