We are a Camp Mingan now, a four hour drive to RuRi House. In one of our most impractical decisions in a long time, we sent a car and driver to RuRi House to get some of those Bayambang Melons. We’ve moved 2 tons so far and yet we have tasted not a single one. But the raves in the group! Members private messaging us how sweet they are, how fantastic-smelling they are. One member even got her doctor friends together to group buy. We had to have a taste. So 4 hours in and 4 hours back, our bleary eyed driver hands us a sack with four melons inside. Short lived joy, RURi House was on the phone crying, “Mom! Binawasan nyo pa yung melons. Eh, we are 100 kilos short!” (Sorry, we did not know). Sans the consternation, we proved it to be true, these are the sweetest melons ever.
