Asparagus

ASUS ASPARAGUS. The province of Tarlac has many times proven to be a land of surprising discoveries for us. First we discovered mulberries there, then the very first RuRi Eggs, then tamales, and then these — LONG-STEMMED ASPARAGUS. The first common reaction we get when we announce that we can get Asparagus from Tarlac is amazement. “Asparagus grows in warm places?”. The second reaction, when they get delivered, is even more amazement. “These are the longest-stemmed asparagus I have ever seen!” The farmer who grows this is the last man standing from a group of farmers who tried to grow Asparagus in a hot place, and failed. While his friends have since plowed their failed asparagus into the ground and returned to planting rice, he went forward and thrived.
