Balicuchacorn
Balicuchacorn
RURI CLUB
SWEET AND SALTY. This is a special combination of two farmer family-made treats, one sweet and the other salty. It’s BALICUCHA (pulled sugar candy from Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur) and CHICHARON (a plant based snack made with corn with the crunchy texture of chicharon from Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur). It is time for these farmers to shine. Many members are asking “Why don’t/can’t the farmers process their produce kaysa itapon?”. Ito na nga yun. We’re sharing this video of the farmers making Panucha. Later, a video of the Chichacorn process. We’re expecting comments about the use of bare hands and lack of hairnets. To be honest, we deliberated to show these videos becasue of that. These are products made traditional and small scale, and I giuess some members will be turned off and some will not mind. Transparency is what we can show you. What we can tell you for certain however is that the Balicucha is very good. We were able to buy a big batch of 8,000 packs for the December 2025 Harvest of Hope subscriptions, they were big in size, rich in taste. I found myself sucking on them in between sips of black coffee. It was a delicious experience. Yung Chicharon naman, we had them in the RuRipop and stores. They sold well. Maalat, crunchy, hindi matigas sa teeth. A perfect snack. So these are the farmer families we are helping.
BALIKUCHACORN. It’s 10 pieces of Balicucha and 2 packs of Chichacorn (70 ~ 100 grams each, depende sa putok ng corn), we would like the families to share P225. Enjoy.
