KOMBOYS AND INIDIANS. The hardy Ibaloi men who harvested these Inidian Mangoes in Sitio Inidian, Brgy. Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet are not only farmers but komboys as well. Komboys is an iteration of the English word “convoy”, a worker who carry goods for vendors and buyers in a public market, and this term has extended to porters helping farmers in highland farms. There’s a very nice article on Komboys on Insights on Photography. The article is entitled Wheel of TIme: The Enduring Spirit of the Komboys of Benguet. Suggested reading.
These also happen to be very nice mangoes that we paired with the more famous Guimaras Mangoes to help them sell. Today however, after tasting how sweet, we thought we’d give them legs of their own, let them shine on their own. Mura lang, P299 for 4 kilos. If you like supporting underdogs, this is the one but why choose between komboys and inidians when you can choose both?
TRANSPARENCY: This is an offer for small-sized highland mangoes. If you are looking for bigger mangoes, this offer may not be for you.
