Baluno Rescue

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS. The good news is that we finally found BALUNO (White Mango) in Misamis Oriental.

The bad news is that there was supposed to be two Baluno trees growing alongside each other, they cut one daw for wood. Hay, naku.

The good news is that there’s another Baluno tree high up the mountain — older, taller, with more fruit.

Our farmers have started harvesting the younger tree. Others are on the way up the mountain, medyo foggy daw.

We don’t know yet exactly how many kilos it will turn out to but Baluno is a giant tree. One in full fruit gifts 500 kilos. We are lucky to have one and a half trees.

Grow them in your backyard. We shall also be happy to buy them back to distribute to our farmers communities so that children would know Baluno
