MEET LUNES CANAM. Yes, that’s his real name, and he grows the most delicious marang fruit in his farm at Brgy. Balete, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya. Now 28, he has been a fruit farmer all his life, a profession he learned from his father, and his father from his own father before that. No wonder this batch of marangs–it’s our first time to buy from him–are particularly delightful. The trees that they come from are the wealth of generations, they are as old as they are prolific.

“Can we take a picture of you to show the members?” we asked.

“Sige lang,” he says and gamely strikes a pose.

We love him. We love his fruit. We’ll take more tomorrow.
