Ito yung wombok na tinapon.
WIND-BLOWN WOMBOK. The farmer’s name is Okoy. This is not okay. Okoy brings 2,600 kilos of WOMBOK on his truck to the La Trinidad Trading Post and this is the dismaying sight that greets him. These are the trucks. Thirty other wombok trucks were already there, he was in for a long and fitful wait. Two days he waits and sleeps and eats and waits in his truck, before finally the first buyers come to him. They say his womboks are “too big”, they say his womboks are “not fresh”. They offer P3~P4 per kilo, Okoy has no choice but to accept. They buy 2,000 kilos of Okoy’s wombok, the rest he has to throw away. This is the wombok he threw away. And this is the paper that says he collected P7,700 for his truckload, paid out P4,000 for packers, paper and plastic, and he “earned” P3,620.
Two months of work plus two days of waiting, that’s roughly P1,500 per month or P50/day. Two thousand kilos of wombok, that’s roughly fifty cents per kilo. That’s rough, that’s not okay.
We’re going to help Okoy and his brother but buying three tons of wombok. The price is P30/kilo.
