Pineapples

OUT OF LUCK, OUT OF TIME.

One of our farmers arrived early this morning with a truck full of Pineapples. This is the scene that greeted me when I got to the office — the farmer sleeping in his vehicle, his son sleeping on the pavement. They have been here since 5AM. I told them very sorry, RuRi cannot take the pineapples; that we need time to write an article, time to put it before the members, give them time to come forward with an intention to help. We did not have any of that this morning, we did not have time, h*ck we did not even have any warning about these pineapples. Naiinis ako that I had to tell him to try his luck in the public markets in QC, Pasig and Manila, even if I know how that would turn out. Naaawa ako to see him drive away. Mas lalo akong naawa when I saw that even that was difficult for him to do, may problem ang transmission niya. He is so out of luck, he obviously cannot afford a mechanic, surely he cannot afford the parts because this is a Nissan. Naiinis ako sa farmer na ito sa kalagayan niya, for not texting kahit at least a day in advance para kahit papaano we can take some of his pineapples.

Alam ko na mangyayari — puno ang sasakyan niya umalis, puno right ito babalik sa RuRi. Makikiusap siya sa atin, pang-krudo na lang and all that. Tanghali na siya umalis ng RuRi, transactions at the markets happen at midnight onwards. He has little to no chance. From this hour until this afternoon — we hope we are not out of time — to ask those members who will or can help to come forward for this down on his luck farmer. Kung babalik siya sa atin mamaya, hopefully hindi lang pang-krudo ang maibigay natin — sana mabili natin.
