THE REAL GOLD ARE IN THE TREES. This distant and beautiful place is where the SATSUMA ORANGES come from. Individual small holder farms 100 mountainous kilometers away from the main highway, a town called Kasibu. We’ve been there to see the farms and meet the farmers. The farmers there are fighting against the creeping threat of gold mining in the area whose operations threaten to cut off or pollute the water and to kill their livelihood. We think that the real gold in these mountains are what’s hanging from these trees, beautiful golden oranges, and we at Rural Rising are mining it for our members.
